FARM TO CUP

You will go to a coffee farm in the outskirts of Antigua Guatemala with a breathtaking view of the three volcanoes that make our soil so rich for agriculture. In the farm you will be guided by an expert in the field of coffee and learn about the process of coffee from the bean to the cup. Later you will enjoy three different coffees brewed in the aeropress method, with a great guatemalan barista that will explain the different flavors and aromas between the coffees.

COFFEE CRAWL

We have all experienced the joy of having the first sip of coffee in the morning, we have tried its tasty flavor over a meeting with friends, or have been saved by it more than once in a hard day at work, but did you know your coffee has made a very long journey to get to your cup? We want to share that journey with you and help you open a door to a world full of art and wonders, the world of coffee! Our tour begins in the beautiful city of Antigua Guatemala in the Cathedral’s atrium in 5th Calle Oriente. We will start by going to the South of the city to visit one of the few coffee farms that keeps its authenticity. At the farm we will be received by one of the local workers who has more than 20 years of experience, making him an expert in the field of coffee farming. Here we will learn the process of coffee production from the plant to the cup, and all this while being surrounded by one of the most breathtaking views of the volcanoes that make our soil so rich for planting. As we finish our walk through the farm, we will hop in our fun transportation and return to Antigua Guatemala to begin our crawl. On our first stop we will visit a coffee roaster; here we will see how the art and science of roasting produces the flavors and aromas that make our coffee the great drink that it is. On our second stop we will play with your senses and show you everything there is to know about a cup coffee, all of this while you enjoy the beautiful streets and culture of the colonial city. Finally, we will have a refreshing beer with notes of coffee, while we learn how coffee can be used in different beverages. By the end of the Coffee Crawl not only will you have met a group of coffee enthusiasts and experts in all its fields, but you will take your knowledge of the coffee world to the next level.

COFFEE CRAWL SERIES 2
BARRIO LA MERCED

The Coffee Crawl Series 2 will take you through a caffeine journey in Barrio La Merced, where you will live unique experiences in each of the coffee shops of this area. In the first coffee shop you will experience brewing in a V60 and discover the aromas and flavors that this method extracts, on the second stop you will learn how to use a Latin American extraction method and pair your coffee with some homemade pastries made with local ingredients, then you will continue walking around Barrio La Merced and visit another coffee shop to experience what it’s like to be a barista by learning how to do a latte. On the last stop you’ll finish with a refreshing artisanal beer to share with other travelers and locals. While you enjoy this caffeine journey through La Merced you will learn historic facts about the area that only true Panza Verdes know and you’ll have lots of fun.

COFFEE CRAWL SERIES 3
THE ROASTING TRAIL

We will take you into the magical and scientific world of roasting! You will visit two roasteries located in the center of Antigua Guatemala, while we walk around the historical streets of this city. In the first roastery you will see the magic happen, you will experience roasting coffee beans with a professional coffee roaster and understand the roasting curve, the chemical reaction of the beans, and the different types of roast you can develop depending on the flavors you want to bring out in your coffee.  After having experienced the art of roasting, we will continue our caffeine journey to the second roastery, there you will see the transformation of the bean into the cup and taste coffee from two different regions of Guatemala, extracted in a pour over method. This Crawl will give you the opportunity to walk into a coffee roasting shop and see what happens to the beans during this process, which is one of the most important steps into producing coffee with a prefect taste. Learning about roasting will change the way you see and enjoy your coffee!
